Professor of Art History Jerome Feldman, Ph.D., provided a lecture
entitled "A Short History of Photographic Issues and Genres" at the
East West Center Gallery (Burns Hall) on July 17, 2016. Feldman covered the
history of photography from its beginnings — capturing very crude imagery — to
progressively more advanced technologies. He discussed the long interaction
that photography has had with other genres of art and photography’s role in
capturing history. Feldman’s talk was held in conjunction with the exhibition,
"China Through the Lens of John Thomson 1869-1872," showing at Burns
Hall Gallery until Sept. 11.
