World History Workshop for Social Studies Teachers held at HPU


Hawai‘i Pacific University’s Jerry H. Bentley World History Workshop for Social Studies Teachers was held July 18-22, 2016 at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The Workshop was organized by Administrative Director JonDavidann, Ph.D., (HPU Professor of History) and was led by Teaching Director Marc Gilbert, Ph.D., (HPU Professor of History) and Curriculum Specialist Tom Mounkhall, D.A. The cohort featured a diverse and very bright group of Department of Education teachers, private school teachers, HPU teacher candidates, and HPU MA in Diplomacy and Military Studies students. 

Michael Vann, Ph.D., from Sacramento State University and Karim Khan, Ph.D., from Leeward Community College gave keynote presentations. Participants studied the new C-3 Framework for Social Studies that the State of Hawaii Board of Education has recently adopted. Thanks go to donors Carol Mon Lee and the Sidney Stern Trust for their support of the Workshop.
