Assistant
Vice President of Enrollment Management Sara Sato represented HPU at the 2017
EducationUSA Forum, which was held in Washington DC from July 31 through August
2. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and organized in partnership with
the Institute of International Education, the overarching purpose of the forum
is to collaborate with U.S. colleges and universities, to help maintain the
U.S. as the top host nation for international students and scholars and to promote
diversity in international education.
During
the conference, Sato participated in interactive sessions and workshops,
including topics such as maximizing recruitment resources and comprehensive
campus internationalization. She had the opportunity to network with more than
570 U.S. university representatives from 46 states, 60 EducationUSA regional
coordinators and advisers, and U.S. and foreign government officials.
“Throughout
the forum, I established many new contacts — university enrollment management
personnel, EducationUSA staff, and government officials — who were genuinely
interested in learning more about HPU,” Sato said. “I shared with them
information about our programs, students, faculty, and staff, and was very
proud to share HPU’s 2016 recognition by The
Chronicle of Higher Education, as being the ‘Most Diverse Private Nonprofit
University in the U.S.’”
EducationUSA comprises more than 400
advising centers in 177 countries. The U.S. Department of State reported that
more than one million international students enrolled in U.S. higher education
institutions in 2015-16, and those individuals contributed $35 billion to the
U.S. economy and supported more than 400,000 U.S. jobs.
