Avis
Ing-Randolph (BSN ’07), Ph.D., successfully defended her dissertation and
earned her doctorate — Nursing Research-Quantitative — from UCLA in May. The
title of her dissertation is “Effect of a Group Music Nursing Intervention on
Anxiety among Individuals with Mild to Moderate Dementia in Los Angeles
Assisted Living Facilities.”
On
her HPU education, Ing-Randolph credits her professors from the Nursing
program.
“I
had several awesome nursing professors who equipped, supported, wrote on my
behalf and encouraged me while a pre- and post-licensure BSN student,” she
said. “Their hard work paid off. Aloha and Mahalo!”
Ing-Randolph is a music in nursing researcher and music
teacher/owner of Music & Moves. Previously, she was an RN case manager,
providing nursing assessments and skilled care in home settings for post-acute
discharge patients.
In addition to her Nursing degrees, Ing-Randolph holds a bachelor’s degree in music education.

Lange-Otsuka, Ed.D., Ing-Randolph’s HPU Nursing professor, said, “We used her
love for music to incorporate into her nursing work and assignments led to
this.”
