Assistant Professor of English receives poetry award


Assistant Professor of English Adele NeJame’s poem, "Faces, Serkal House Exhibit" has been awarded honorable mention with a cash award in the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation Poetry Prize competition, Monterey, California (1300 poems submitted, 40 states represented).  Finalist judge: Edward Hirsch, award winning poet and Guggenheim president. NeJame’s poem has been published in the foundation’s newsletter and, along with the other winners, it now appears on the foundation website:  www.torhouse.org/prize.htm

The winning poem is also forthcoming this summer (as a reprint) in the Beirut Art and Literary Journal published by the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Ne Jame's new poems deal with the lasting effects of war in the Middle East.
