Sexual Assault Awareness Month: Denim Day - Wear Jeans with a Purpose
In 1999, the Italian High Court overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans at the time of the assault. The justices stated that the victim must have helped her attacker removed her jeans, from which they inferred consent. People around the world were outraged. On Wednesday, April 27, wear jeans this anniversary as a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual violence. For more information, email mkaptik@hpu.edu. This month is sponsored by HPU Dean of Students Office.
