As part of the 70th Anniversary Commemoration of the surrender on the Battleship Missouri that ended World War II, Interim Dean, College of Extended and Interdisciplinary Education, and Associate Professor of History
Justin W. Vance, Ed.D., and Mitch Yamasaki, Ph.D., of Chaminade University, co-taught a teacher workshop on Saturday, Aug. 29, on board the Battleship Missouri. The workshop,"September 2, 1945: The Day that Launched a Better Future," was co-sponsored by the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities and the USS Missouri Memorial Association and its Education department. Vance presented on WWII in the Pacific while Yamasaki presented on the Modernization of Japan. More than 20 teachers, representing private and public schools in Hawai‘i, participated in the workshop.
